Every year on September 26th, there is a celebration for the warship "Queen Olga", which was bombarded at the port of Lakki in 1943 by German aircrafts.
It was one of the most legendary Greek warships, which had been used in many naval actions in the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.
It was the ship with which members of the Greek government moved to Crete shortly before the arrival of the Germans in Athens during the Second World War and was used in 1941 to send to Crete all the gold reserves of the Bank of Greece.
