Every year in late July,  one of the biggest festivals of the island is organized, in the beach of Gourna. It is know as the celebration of the Thresher.
This celebration, is an enactment of threshing. Wheatears are placed in a harvest field and they are collected by a threshing machine dragged by horses. After the completion of the threshing the festival begins.
The Thresher with his family is the one who starts the celebration and slowly everybody join in . During the celebration, traditional relishes and wine areoffered.
