Since 2013, Leros Marina Anti-pollution Team takes part to the annual practice for Oil Spill incidents response.

The training program, which is carried out by the means of  Metopi-Environmental Protection Consultants, includes two parts, theoretical and practical.

During the theoretical training, the staff is informed about the possible sources of pollution within and near the Marina, the behavior of all Petroleum waste when they seep into the marine environment, the new methods and techniques of pollution confrontation but also on how to tackle an incident depending on each scenario.
The practical part of the training, contents a pollution scenario (oil leak) inside the area of responsibility of the Marina and activation of the Oil Spill Reaponse Contingency Plan, which includes immersion of 150m oil boom with the proper anchoring, as would have been done in actual incident.
